A reason to smile

A nice post from Danny Garcia....check it out..

Not too long ago, I saw a woman, a homeless one.
I was on my way home from the store and as I drove toward her, I began to compare her life to mine. Even though I didn't know her past, her present circumstances were clear and easy to judge, so why not, right? I'm 20. I have a supportive, loving family. I have good friends, a beautiful girlfriend, and a decent car. I have goals, dreams, and aspirations. She had nothing but the clothes on her back. “I've got it pretty good,” I thought, “sure glad I'm not her,” and I almost drove by without another look.

Then I noticed something weird.....http://danny-garcia.com/articles/full/6_words/

10 commandments of joy: 4. Nuture your emotions

A person without emotions is like wood without any juice. You need to make your life interesting to draw people to you. This will happen when you nurture yourself with music, prayer and service. The way to expand from individual to universal consciousness. To overcome personal misery is to share universal misery! The way to expand personal joy is to share universal joy. Ask yourself what can you do for the world? When you show kindness, your true nature comes into play. Do some random acts of kindness without expecting anything out of it. You don't have to plan your acts of kindness. Just do something spontaneously. When you do random acts of kindness, you come in touch with your true nature.

10 commandments of joy: 3.Make your smile cheaper

A baby smiles 400 times a day, an adolescent 17 times and an adut doesnt smile at all! The more successful one becomes, stiffer the person is. Is being stressed a sign of prosperity, growth or dignity?

You should smile more. Every day, every morning, look at the mirror and give a good smile to yourself. Dont let your smile be snatched away by anybody. Usually you give your anger freely and your smile rarely as though a smile is costly. In ignorance anger is cheap and smile costly. In knowledge smile is free like the sun, air and water and anger is very expensive like a diamond. Make your smile cheaper and your anger costly.

You are here for a greater cause. Just remember that.

10 commandments of joy: 2. Take time out for yourself

If for the whole day you only engaged in gathering sources for creativity, sometime during the day sit for a few minutes, get into the cave of your heart, eyes closed and kick the world away like a ball. But during the day be 100% attached to the work. Eventually you will be able to be both attached and detached at the same time. This is the skill of living, art of living.

You have to renounce all work you have done the whole day, only then can you rest in the night. Creativity springs up when you are relaxed. Taking out sometime for yourself improves the quality of your life. Learning something about the breath and other levels of our existence is very important.

A better brain

"We know that people who consistently meditate have a singular ability to cultivate positive emotions, retain emotional stability and engage in mindful behaviour," said Eileen Luders, study co-author and postdoctoral fellow at the UCLA Lab of Neuro Imaging.

10 commandments of joy: 1. Give the divine a chance

In the New year, let your devotion flower and give it a chance to work. Prayer is a vital tool to improve your life. It also nourishes values like integrity and honesty. If you are not grateful and prayerful, you will be miserable. What you can do, you do and what you cannot do you pray for. The feeling that 'I am blessed' can help you overcome any failure. Once you realise you are blessed all complaints disappear and all the insecurities disappear.

The higher goals in life can only be achieved by a few minutes of meditation and introspection. Meditation brings deepest of deepest rest. The deeper you can rest, the more dynamic you will be in activity. Even though deep rest and dynamic activity are opposite values, they are complimentary.

Anubhooti ‘09

Jai Guru Dev!!
Love.
Deep.
Its all. Done YES!+, YES!++. Keep smiling & tell ‘Jai Guru Dev’ to everyone. Nice, happy, lovely, amazing & ‘like anything’. Ok. Now what??!!!!!!!
Now Whhhaaaattttttttttttt?!?!?!????!!!!!!
There was a Bang & let there be light voice NOWRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Then started the run for life. Run Lola Run. As I started running, my friend said even my favourite activity is to run!! So Mind ran …………… hmmm ……
so all that knowledge was for this reason – Strong mind !!! And guess what !!!!!!!!!!!! Strong mind resides in Strong Body.(didn’t it find some easy place to dwell??!!)
I must have understood by the morning that day. “We will start with Long Kriya.” Yes Grrreeaaattttttttt!!!!!!. But dilatory pranayam sucked my breath out ………. Hold…………………………….………………………………………2……………………………………………………………..……………………3……………………………………………………………………………….………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………4……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. one more count and I was surely lost in the vastitude of cosmos.
But Why am I running anyway? No premises & logic and what type of absurd conclusion is this??
To RUN!!
I am not running nomore. Last round. That’s All!!!!!!.
But ‘The One’ overrode every time ‘the one’ came near.
Bernoulli stated increase in pressure decreases speed. Mornings create pressure. Running increases it. Hmm, he was true, but still I had only one mantra ‘If I can talk, I can trot.’
After relentless running, running became the very state of being. Just effortless. It was not running but stopping that was painful. Not body but the mind was complaining all the time, while it was mind which felt utmost relaxation at the end. Thus Guruji says, ‘Never Mind’.
Completely dirty and still cent percent fresh we went to ‘Chhappan’ (‘beautiful’ Indore street with 56 eateries) with full enthusiasm. Reluctant to talk randomly to any one ‘Jai Guru Dev’ was the only weapon left. I realized, while Seva what matters is only smile on my face & belongingness.
With extreme daily exercise, meditation, Ankur’s all time best Talk (and the power of fragrant flower) success was not far away.
I went, I faught, but without Sword. So no reward. But then I learnt one more thing. Along with 100%, conviction that gift of Kriya and Knowledge is of utmost important irrespective of anything is inevitable.
Learnt from our experiences, swords were forged and sharpened for next day. Once again Ankur gave a bakait talk (& once again I had to listen) in a boys hostel and we all despite of our crippled legs ran (girls specially), caught & talked to each person. And a successful start was kicked.
Last moments of course were near. Celebrations were all over, songs were sung, magic was spread by Nishith’s guitar, photos were clicked, Great Hall was echoing with laughter (as usual two witches clearly dominated), Tulsi stopped crying(great news). Bhaiya cooked ‘Vegetable something with gravy’. It was utterly butterly delicious. After having lunch, we packed our bags and started for return journey.
Despite of third class bus journey and train-floor-sleep-dancing (for story, ask Pushkal) we all were merrymaking, celebrating & Laughing all the way back.
It was in true sense an internal experience – an Anubhooti. YES!+ taught me to give 100% in every task. In YES!++ I gave 100% and lived the experience. Then came YES!+ Anubhooti and I learnt to go beyond 100%.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross (even I don’t know who she is) truly said, "People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."
Now I say,
Jai Guru Devaaaa!!!!!!!
Love U All friends. YoOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Deep (naam to suna hoga)
PS: I have an intuiton that after Anubhooti all types of Drinking problems & SES(Sneha Everywhere Syndrome) must have been resolved.
PS2: Thank U Sonu bhaiya very very much  . Without U and exercises, course would have been like Einstein’s Relativity w/o E=mc2 or Laptop w/o Operating System(or with Vista).

10 commadments of Joy

Article published in Arunachal times on 31 dec 2008:

Welcome the year 2009 with a smile from within and wish everyone with a sankalpa for peace and prosperity for all the people on the planet. Make a resolution to do more good to society, help the people who are in need and bring solace to who are suffering. Let our life be useful to one and all.

Today, most people are confused because there is no direction in life. The difference between flood and a normal river is that water flow is regulated in a river. Similarly, the energy in our life needs some direction to flow. If you don't give direction, it is all confusion. When you attend to the spirit, life attains its highest and becomes a celebration. Here's how you can nurture the spirit in the New year....

The ten commandments fo joy will follow in the coming posts...

Om Shanti

Om shanti is said three times.

The purpose is to wish for peace in the world. Only when there is peace around you, you can be peaceful. When there is a war in the world you cannot be peaceful.

The second is to wish for peace within you. If the world is peaceful but your mind is not peaceful that is also not useful. So there is a wish for peace to your mind and body.

The third is to wish for peace in your soul or atma.

So let there be peace in the world, in the mind and in the soul. Om shanti, Om shanti, Om shanti.

Studies

This post has been taken from the blog: Hues of Joy (http://ratnaabhishek.blogspot.com/2009/02/studies.html).

Around 7 years ago, Guruji was meeting a group of young adult participants in Narayana. I also got in with them, for i just wantedddd to meet Himmmm. In the QnA, one girl asked, "Guruji, how to become perfect at studies?" Guruji asked "What?"
"How to become perfect at studies Guruji?"
"What?"
"How to become perfect Guruji?"
"Come again..."
"Guruji how to become perfect?"
"What?"
By now the whole group (mostly girls) were giggling...

When the girl started to ask again, Guruji, who had been looking right into her eyes all the while, abruptly asked "Got it?"

So, got it?

Desktop Wallpaper

Smashing magazine's desktop wallpaper calendar's are pretty interesting and find their way to my desktop every month. This month I made my own desktop wallpaper. Without much design skills and resources and time, they leave room for a lot of improvement.

It feels nice to start the day with some words of wisdom from Guruji. Just save the above images and use as your desktop wallpaper or better still create some of your own and share it on the blog.

Salutations to the dawn

Look to this day!

For it is life, the very life of life.

In its brief course

Lie all the verities and realities of your existence;

The bliss of growth

The glory of action

Splendor of achievement,

For yesterday is but a dream

And tomorrow is only a vision,

But today well lived,
makes every yesterday a dream of happiness

And tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore to this day!

Such is the salutation to the dawn.

Transcending words

Every sunday Guruji talks in Kanada in the satsang at the ashram since a lot of localites come that day. Recently a mega Advanced course happened in Kanada language and the whole of VM was filled. That had Guruji speaking mostly in kanada even on other days. Everytime He would ask "How many of you don't understand kanada here....haan....you all can pretend to enjoy the talk" and have everyone break into a grin. Somehow that made one transcend words and just enjoy His presence.

Satsang in Banglore Ashram

Every evening the Vishalakshi Mandap is a place to sing, rejoice, meditate and gain knowledge at the banglore ashram. The satsangs include a short meditation and some knowledge discussions presided over by the teachers when Guruji is not there. One evening it was Bawa leading everyone into a beautiful meditation. He later read out a knowledge sheet and explained it to everyone and ofcourse got everyone laughing. In the end he asked us if we were ready for some fantasy. We closed our eyes as per his instruction and when we opened our eyes Guruji’s photo was no longer there. Bawa asked us to imagine that Guruji was right there in person and everyone sang Radha ramana hari bol…it made the evening all the more special.

Watch

Watch your 'thoughts', they become words.
Watch your 'words', they become actions.
Watch your 'actions', they become habits.
Watch your 'habits', they become character.
Watch your 'character', for it becomes your destiny.
